Jax is 4!
When we moved to Texas I was pregnant with Jax, so I can’t believe that he is now 4! When deciding whether to throw him a party, we were worried, because he recently had surgery to remove his adenoids and had tubes put in his ears but he did great and was ready for his party! My parents were able to come and celebrate, which always make the parties that much more exciting for the kids.
If there is one thing my kids love and can’t live without it’s Legos. We have legos in tow. all. the. time. In the car, in my bag, everywhere! But it’s a toy that actually teaches them fine motor skills, how to build and follow instructions and I don’t mind that they spend hours using their imagination playing with Legos! This was an easy choice for Jax’s party theme and it was easy to entertain the children by just throwing out some Legos!
I have a bunch of random squares of different color fabrics that I use for parties so I just went bright at this party. I used a bunch of the huge streamers because they are my new favorite party decoration and I promise I will do a post on how to make those soon. Big impact for with a little price tag!
Kai made a bunch of lego pieces in the letter of Jax’s name and age for me so I don’t know if I will be much help on how to make those and I used a bunch of the boys recent Lego projects as decoration. We had the boys make their own lego cars to race and I used an old race track that Nick built for another birthday party (link for that soon).
Here are the sources from the party!
Invitation and signs: Morgan Kader, I bought these Lego boxes, filled them with lego pieces and sent them home with the kids at school. Those that I had to send where just the same invite enlarged.
Happy Birthday Banner: Target, I’ve used this a million times
Lego car packets: Amazon
Mini Fig Pieces: So each child could make and keep a mini Fig I went to San Antonio Bricks and they had all the pieces and even threw in a free shirt for Nick and I!
Cookies: Lily’s cookies, I probably should have made these half the size they were huge!
Pop corn containers: Amazon
Jax T-shirt: Etsy, Kai’s, Wests
Lego chocolates: I melted colored chocolate in these easy ice cube trays
Lego heads: These are just marshmallows and the same colored chocolate
Cake: So this is my ultimate party secret! For Kai’s first birthday I spend HOURS making his cake, 3 layers covered in fondant, and it was beautiful – but then no one ate it. My family does’t really like cake so I was stuck with so much cake, I got bids from bakeries for his next cake and I was floored by the prices, that much money for cake seemed ridiculous! So I decided to make a fake cake, with Styrofoam forms and fondant! The best part was I could prepare it a few weeks before the party, it was incredibly easy and nobody missed the cake since I had made cupcakes! So that is my go to now for most parties, shhhh don’t tell! I used the same lego forms for the bottom and this for the base.
Cupcakes: Seriously out of a box with Lego candy on top!
